The main Trentham Estate car park is large enough for most occasions and is just off the A34.
Walk through the shopping area, remembering to stop and look on the way back...
There is a charge to enter The Trentham Estate. Go through the gate house and over the raised bridge spanning the River Trent.
Turn left, following the well-maintained path by the side of the lake - marked by the wayposts.
Walk over the little bridge over the over-flow weir and continue to follow the path.
At the cafe, walk out of the Estate and follow the path to another car park.
To just walk Monument Hill, park here - the car park had access of off the A34 too.
From the car park, head along the green fields with the wood on the right and go through the gate.
Here, there's a choice of routes: the easier, longer route is on the left and the shorter, harder and steeper route is straight on.
Both routes reach the monument at the top of the hill.
From the monument, take the path facing the Trentham Estate and head down - taking care as this path can be slippery.
Head back into the Trentham Estate and take the left path around the other side of the lake.
Follow the path and at the top of the lake, another cafe sits next to the Italian Gardens so famous in the estate.
At the far end of the Italian Gardens, a viewing platform provides the best view of the garderns.
Head left and back over the River Trent to exit the estate.
