Route Directions
- Our walk starts at the Agar House B&B on St David’s Road. If you are arriving to Llandudo by train, turn left out of the station along Augusta Street, then Madoc Street and Chapel Street, and then turn left on the A546 Gloddaeth Avenue. If you are arriving by bus, get off at stop “Clifton Road, stop z”
- Walk along St David’s Road, cross over Lloyd Street and along Maelgwyn Road.
- At the junction with the A546 Gloddaeth Avenue, turn left and walk right down to the end of this long straight dual carriageway to the mini-roundabout. The A546 turns left here, so cross over the road and walk to the West Parade.
- Turn right and walk along West Parade, with West Shore Beach on your left. Follow the road around as it changes to Abbey Road.
- At the twin-turreted castle-like building on the right, just before go through the kissing gate on the right and follow the path as it snakes and starts to climb.
- After a while, there’s a path on the left signed for the Zig Zag path to the summit of The Great Orme. Ignore this and carry on along the path.
- Go through the next gate, and just before the path drops down to Cwlach Road, bear left and climb up the steps as it zig zags higher from Haulfe Gardens.
- After the zig zags, the path levels up – walk along the level section, but soon the paved path disappears. Continue on, and climb in a zig zag pattern following the obvious line on the ground.
- Skirt around the wood section of Haulfre Gardens, and follow the clear path around the edge of the Great Orme Golf Course to reach Llwynon Road.
- Turn right here, and walk along LLwynon Road, and just before the sharp turn to the right, there’s a signposted path on the left, with steps up to Tyn y Coed Road.
- Turn right along Tyn y Coed Road, and immediately bear left. Just before the row of terrace houses, there’s a paved raised path on the left. Take this, and climb the steps right up to St Beuno’s Road.
- Turn right, follow St Beuno’s Road as it turns to the right. Pyllau Road is on the left – turn left here and walk along Pyllau Road to walk past Great Orme Mines on the right.
- Take the next footpath on left and walk along these path until it reaches the road to the Summit Complex.
- As the road bends to the right, follow the footpath which goes alongside the road, and cross over just before the Great Orme Tramway Station.
- The Summit Complex is just behind. Enjoy the views across the Irish Sea before returning to Llandudno on the tram.
